Spatiotemporal Granulation

We present research in microsound analysis and synthesis techniques, which granulates temporal, and spatial information independently. Through the use of spatially encoded sound field recordings, we extract, and synthesize grains that are localized in time, frequency, and space. We present findings, and limitations of this new technique, and outline the potential creative and analytical uses.

This document introduces a novel theory & technique called Spatiotemporal Granulation, and describes the potential manipulations that could be realized. The viability of this technique is demonstrated through a software implementation, named "Angkasa".
